The Vancouver Island Marmot lives only in Canada, and is just one of five mammals to occur nowhere else in the world. And it is critically endangered. Due to the ongoing efforts of the a recovery program, the marmot count in the wild has increased from less than 30 wild marmots in 2003, to an estimated 250-300 in 2015.
